What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

Launched in February 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a landmark rooftop solar scheme aimed at providing solar systems to 1 crore Indian households, enabling them to generate up to 300 units of free electricity per month.

Who is Eligible?

• All Indian households with own residential property
• Property must have adequate shadow-free rooftop space
• Valid electricity connection with state DISCOM
• Aadhaar card and bank account mandatory for subsidy transfer

Central Subsidy Structure

• 1 kW System: Rs.30,000 subsidy
• 2 kW System: Rs.60,000 subsidy
• 3 kW and above: Rs.78,000 subsidy

How to Apply

1. Register on the National Portal: pmsuryaghar.gov.in
2. Select your State and DISCOM, enter electricity consumer number
3. Get feasibility approval from DISCOM online
4. Install rooftop solar through an empanelled vendor like Vigeedha Solar
5. Submit installation certificate and net meter application
6. Receive subsidy directly in bank account within 30 days of commissioning
